During the meeting, the Head of State highly appreciated Metropolitan Alexander’s work in Kazakhstan and dwelt on issues of state policy in the religious sphere.
- We highly appreciate your activity in Kazakhstan. You are implementing a policy of peace and interfaith harmony. Our country is a secular state. The Constitution and laws enshrine the equality of all religious faiths and freedom of religion. We initiated changes in legislation on religious activities. You have took an active part in that. We are grateful to you for the work carried out, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also congratulated the Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan on the last Christmas.
In turn, Metropolitan Alexander thanked the Head of State for the meeting and noted the importance of the President’s Article titled "Public Consciousness Improvement" in the matter of spiritual and moral education.
