President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly commended the contribution of China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group (CNMC), which has extensive international experience in the mining and metallurgical industries, to the development of Kazakhstan’s industrial potential.
The President emphasized the particular importance of launching the construction of a copper smelting plant at the Aktogay deposit, which is expected to give additional impetus to the development of Abai Region’s economy and Kazakhstan’s manufacturing industry. As the Head of State noted, China is one of Kazakhstan’s key strategic and economic partners in trade and investment, and today’s launch of the project serves as a clear testament to the steady advancement of cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, CNMC Chairman Wen Gang thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the trust placed in the company to implement this large-scale project and for his personal participation in the ceremony.
Wen Gang assured the President of Kazakhstan that construction would be carried out to high standards and completed on schedule, using advanced technologies. Particular attention would be paid to strict compliance with industrial and environmental safety requirements. According to him, the project’s implementation will create new jobs and expand cooperation in local workforce training and knowledge exchange.
Following the meeting, it was noted that the project would serve as another successful example of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China and pave the way for further joint efforts in metallurgy and deep processing.
